Posted by archeryandbow on August 25, 2008

You should take care and ensure that the travel archery cases you wish to purchase should have great attention paid to detail and that the construction is robust, and the materials used are also of good quality and which may even are resistant to water to give your equipment more protection. If you are going to be traveling a lot with it by air, you should also look for those travel archery cases that are convenient to lock so that the airline passes it through without fuss or bother. You should also look for a reputable brand and so assure you that the product adheres to the best in quality.

You may also want to select travel archery cases that are compact in size and also have superior storage capabilities for your arrows and which can also hold as many as two dozen of your arrows so that you can carry all your arrows in a single case rather than distribute them over more than one.

You also need to pay special attention to the design of travel archery cases which should allow you to open them easily so that the bow and a quiver can be placed within while the arrow is still attached to the bow, which should save you the bother of having to fumble about looking for an arrow in the dark. The travel archery cases must also is sturdy enough to take a beating and it should have heavy foam lined material that also will not scratch when it is bumping about in your vehicle.

It would also help you if your travel archery case had the ability to strap the bow and quiver securely using Velcro straps, which would give them added protection, and there should also be compartments within to hold your accessories. You would also be well served if your travel archery case had place that could hold broad heads, allen wrenches, field tips as well as other single items of gear and other accessories as well.

Of course, not all of these features may be found in one single travel archery case, but you can choose the one that most closely fits your needs and which is also affordable to you as well.

A Few Interesting Names of archery teams or clubs

Posted by archeryandbow on August 4, 2008

Perhaps the oldest recorded instance of archery tournaments dates to about the year 1673 AD when a tournament by the name of ‘Ancient Scorton Arrow’ was formed in England in Yorkshire, which till date is the oldest tournament still being held in present times and for which there are many names of archery teams or clubs entered to take part in the tournament. Some years later, the Royal Company of Archers began to indulge in what was then called ‘Clout Archery’ that required use of longbows to shoot a target of about thirty one inches in diameter placed roughly one hundred eighty yards away. Later, the First Tournament of the National Archery Association came about in Chicago, and by the year 1896 AD, the Olympic Games of modern times came to be held in Greece.

Factors That Affect The Flight Characteristics Of Arrow cont…

Posted by archeryandbow on August 1, 2008

Once the arrow leaves the bow, certain conditions will take place initially after which they will not have any impact on the flight characteristics of arrow. So, if you notice your arrow flying too slow or too fast after it exits the bow, you will have a good idea of whether the arrow is suitable for your needs or whether you will need slower or faster arrows.

Keeping in mind all these factors, you can use computers or other means to study the flight characteristics of arrows and make any needed adjustments in order to get best results.

Factors That Affect The Flight Characteristics Of Arrow cont…

Posted by archeryandbow on July 28, 2008

Understanding the flight characteristics of arrow is not an easy task and very often people that study these characteristics make a model of the whole thing while also using flight simulations on computers to arrive at the exact factors that determine how well an arrow will fly through the air.

Of course, things such as the weight and length as well as diameter of the arrow are usually invariable and are usually dependent on matching the arrows with their bows. On shooting the arrow from the bow, the flight characteristics of arrow include speed, which way the flight is headed, and its rotation as well as angle. In order to understand what the arrow is going to do when shot from a bow, the properties of the arrow along with those of its flight characteristics need to be studied which will help understand why an arrow behaves in a certain manner till such time as it reaches its target. And, the flight characteristics of arrow are also dependent on external forces such as drag, gravity as well as shedding its vortex, with one more variable factor being the wind.
